FOUNDATION ROUND UP

JULY 2024

It has been an exceptionally busy month for our on the ground Foundation team, running multiple events in the lead up to, during, and after the 2024 Summer Player Tour.

We started our activity in Bristol where Special Teams Coach Heath Farwell, Long Snapper Ross Matiscik, Linebacker Foye Oluokun and Alumni Tony Boselli and Ben Koyack joined over 100 adult participants from 18 teams from all over the region eager to learn from the very best.

Players Tour Bristol BAFA Clinic

In association with British American Football Association (BAFA), our excellent coaches and our experts from across the pond took part in a 3-hour clinic consisting of an in-depth cycle of positional, co-positional, unit, and 11 v 11 drills and live gameplay.

The standard was high and everyone who participated were delighted at the level of interaction and real time coaching they gained from the Jaguars in attendance.

Manchester was up next where we held a specialist Linebacker clinic, again in association with BAFA and the GB U19 Team. Both Heath and Foye were hugely valuable contributors to this session, taking time to pass on invaluable knowledge to the aspiring young players who enjoyed their time with a current NFL linebacker and a Coach who won the Superbowl!

While this was going on, over 180 kids from 15 schools across the Northwest took part in our largest JagTag event to date, in collaboration with our valued partner AO. The ages ranged from 8 to 11 with boys and girls playing in teams together and against each with our players and alumni joining in and offering tips and tricks. The kids had a lot of fun and even Veron Kay turned up and joined in with the action.

Dublin rounded off what was a very successful week for us, an AFI (American Football Ireland) ‘Special Teams’ clinic took place with Coach Heath and Ross leading the way alongside our expert coaches. Focussing on Kick Offs, Returns and Gunner position, this specialised coaching featured six kickers from an Irish academy linked to IPP (International Player Pathway).

In addition, at the same venue, a further 150 young people aged 9-12 took part in JagTag sessions. They came from six schools across Dublin and Limerick and had a ball competing against each other.  The finale featured all of the Jaguars throwing footballs to individuals in three competing groups in a knockout competition. So much fun had by all, including the guys!

We would like to thank all of our delivery partners, coaches and helpers for making it a special week away with the team.
